This modern art portrait painting is of my sister holding her daughter at her birthday party. My niece has her favorite things of her pacifier, purple blanket, and a balloon. She is in her favorite color of pink. With all these favorite things, it is never complete without a kiss and hug from her beloved mommy, my sister. I love this image because it has sweet tenderness of a private mother and daughter in a moment in the midst of toddler birthday party chaos. I like the peace they both have during the brief moment for a hug and kiss.
The mother and child portrait artwork was made with mixed media on watercolor paper. Color washes were applied with watercolor and acrylic paints. A light layer of pastel was applied over the top of the portrait art painting.
