The drawing was created using colored pencils and ink on paper by Laurel Latto.

It was made for SCBWI Artober Day 28 for the art prompt of “treasure.”

The image was inspired by the idea of instead of a human trying to steal a leprechaun’s treasure rather a trickster rabbit who is better poised to be a thief. If leprechauns were going to have an alarm system to notify them of stolen treasure, it would look like a field of enchanted four-leaf clovers. Only a wily rabbit could comprehend the alarm structure to escape detection safely. It would also explain why humans fail to find leprechauns and treasure, as they have overlooked the clover fields.
